We will ensure that environmental and ethical priorities are integrated into the decisions we take on all its services, and will seek whenever we have an influential role to:

  • make the most efficient use of energy;
  • reduce the need for movement of people and goods and use the most sustainable form of transport available;
  • minimise, where possible, all forms of pollution;
  • avoid waste and encourage the appropriate conservation, re-use, recycling and composting of resources;
  • promote the protection, restoration and enhancement of the diversity of wildlife and the countryside and conserve and enhance the character and quality of the built environment;
  • promote a sense of responsibility and understanding for the environment and participation in environmental issues, by raising staff awareness, by education, and information provision;
  • work in partnership with our suppliers and others to comply with all regulatory requirements at all levels and to encourage continuous improvement in environmental and ethical performance and practices;
  • monitor our performance; and
  • review, and where possible, improve our performance each year with positive action on any areas of non-compliance.
